Are You Waiting For Everything to be Perfect before Starting?

Starting a new business could somewhat be a daunting task if approached from a wrong perspective and lack of understanding. 

For one, while I have advocated in an earlier post the need to have a plan in place, it is equally important to point out that as mortals, one cannot have all the details. That role belongs to God because He alone is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent.

In creating a business plan, what you need is basically what to get you started:

(1)   The objective or need you are trying to create a business or service to address.

(2)   The resources you need to get started (office, office equipment, staffing, finance, etc)

(3)   The marketing plan

(4)   A financial projection (cash flow projection)

(5)   Opportunities available to grow the business

(6)   Likely challenges to encounter

This article focuses more on (6) because as I said earlier, if one tries to list all likely challenges, it could lead to a total discouragement, loss of confidence and abandonment of the idea altogether.

What one needs to understand is that everything cannot be complete before starting a business. There are those challenges overlooked more out of inexperience than out of ignorance, which overtime would become clearer to handle as the business grows.

For instance, one cannot totally plan to prevent a natural disaster (flooding, earthquakes, fires, etc) but rather, the plan should be how to recover if this anomaly ever occurs. This helps to keep one mentally prepared and in the right frame of mind to keep moving to resolve challenges.

 Another example I can give is how to recruit the right staff. In today’s world, there is so much emphasis on getting rich quick that most young people are looking for ways to hit it big within the shortest possible time.

If one hires such a person for his business, there is likely to be problems since the person’s focus will always be short term and not long term success; but that also should not stop one from hiring staff for their business. 

What should be done is to take the pain to look for people of right character and not just skills.

As leadership expert and author John Maxwell pointed out, it is easier to teach skills to a staff than to teach character.

I will end with the words of author Mark Victor Hansen who said, "Don't wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles and less than perfect conditions. So what?  Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful."

There you have another wealth secret! Now go out there and begin to shine and achieve the success of your dreams.

Brain Exercise is very Important

Research has shown that just as exercise is good for the body for those who want to be healthy and fit, so brain exercise is good for those who wish to be successful.

The reason is that ability to think and solve problems is key for the individual who desires success. Now since the brain is the organ of thought and problem solving, one should utilize it constantly through stimulating activity or else it loses its usefulness resulting in senility.

Research has shown that when the brain is underutilized, its cells die off without replacement and that in itself is the very reason an individual who has read this should ensure to engage frequently in activities that increase brain activity.

By its structure of composition of over 100 billion cells linked together, the brain is indeed the most complex natural computer capable of activities highly impossible for human made computers. It is therefore one of the most important organs of the body that should not be left to waste but used actively to achieve feats.

Unfortunately, most of us are unable to utilize this magnificent creation of God called the human brain. In fact, even those referred to as genius are only able to use a tiny fraction of their brain researchers put at about 15% of its capacity. Non-utilization of the brain is in fact responsible for things like memory loss, senility, Alzheimer’s and other diseases that affect it.

The under listed are therefore activities that the individual who desires success should engage in to stimulate the brain regularly to keep it active for use to solve problems:

(1)   Engage in discussions of a creative nature with intelligent people. By this, I do not mean getting into arguments to prove a point because that will cause emotional stress, which is counterproductive for the brain.

Rather, engage in positive conversations that bring out the best in your ability to articulate your points clearly on issues.

(2)   Make out time to be alone to engage in creative thinking. Creative thinking is simply looking at a challenge you have and coming up with solutions that leaves you with a happy feeling inside. This is quite different from just looking at the problem in your mind, not coming up with any solution and feeling despondent, which will increase your stress level.

(3)   Eat foods that are healthy for the brain to increase its power through the nutrients they provide like vitamins A, B, C and E. Examples of such foods are vegetables, legumes, fruits, boiled eggs, whole grain breads, cereals, etc. Supplements like garlic, niacin, B-complex and folic acid are also good for the brain and should be taken regularly.

(4)   Engage in regular aerobic exercise. As aerobic exercise keeps the body healthy and fit through oxygen supply, it also helps to burn fat in the bloodstream that can clog the arteries and prevent blood supply to the brain.

Notice here I have made mention of aerobic exercise and not anaerobic. Simply explained, aerobic exercise is that in which you can be doing and still be able to engage in conversation with someone without having to wait to catch your breath.

(5)   Avoid situations that give emotional stress. Avoid arguments with people who

do not share the same vision with you; prevent negative thoughts from getting into your mind and focus your thoughts and attention more on things that leave you feeling elated most if not all of the time.

Take time to talk a walk through a garden or park where you can admire the beauty of God’s creation, enjoy the scenery, visit new places and generally enjoy yourself thoroughly.

(6)   Read literature that stirs up your spirit positively – the Holy Bible,

 motivational books, true stories of courage and skill, etc.

All these help to stimulate your brain and retain its cell for creative thinking and problem solving. If only we understood the magnitude of God’s creation in the human brain and can put it to effective use.

If only we understood that there is no problem without a solution as long as we are willing to think it through using the genius computer of our brains to do so. If wealth, fame, success in whatever endeavour is your desire in life, begin to engage today in activities that stimulate your brain and then use the power of your brain to think through and solve problems.

Before long, you will get there. There you have another wealth secret!

Do you hate what you really want?

If I were to pose a question on what people want the most, the overwhelming response would be money because of the important role it plays in our everyday lives.

However, it is sometimes interesting to hear the comments people make about those who have money. These comments usually portray money as something to be despised and more especially, you hear comments like, “money is the root of all evil”. 

Those who use this quote are actually referring to a verse in the Holy Bible in 1 Timothy 6a:10 that says, “for the love of money is the root of all evil”. Take note that it says the love of money and not money itself that is the root of all evil.

Unfortunately, people continue to make these wrong statements concerning money and at the same time want to have it. Such conflicting statement is one reason they are unable to get money because you simply cannot have what you have professed as being evil; and it is an obvious fact that no sane mind would want evil in their lives.

I say this because there is a spiritual angle to the words we speak and so we ought to be careful about what comes out of our mouths because as Jesus Christ said in Matthew’s gospel 15: 18, “But the things which come out of the mouth come from the heart”

Since the words we speak originate from the heart, then emotions are involved and since emotions are involved, there is a spiritual link to it. The thoughts that originate from those words pass from our conscious into our subconscious minds and create the effects in the physical.

This is equally why we do not have to despise those the source of whose wealth we are unsure. This is a sign of envy that does one no good. If this is what has been your practice, my advice today is you change your thought process towards them and learn to appreciate what God has done in their lives.

This way, you open up and attract sources unseen and unknown to you through which you make progress towards attainment of wealth or success in whatever endeavor you seek. 

Finally, I end by quoting the wisdom of sacred scripture in James 3: 14-16, “But if you have bitter envy in your heart and the desire to get the better of others, have no pride in this, talking falsely against what is true. 

This wisdom is not from heaven, but is of the earth and the flesh and the Evil One.  For where envy is, and the desire to get the better of others, there is no order, but every sort of evil-doing”.

How do you spend your 24 hours?

Leadership expert and author John Maxwell said his father used to tell him, in life, you either pay now and play later or play now and pay later. 

In case you don’t get the gist of this statement, it simply means the way you spend your time everyday is important.

As you cannot sow wheat and expect to reap grapes, so it is that the individual who does not use his or her time properly cannot expect to reap fruitful dividends at the end of the day.

Life is such that the individual who desires success must make a conscious effort at spending quality time everyday in the direction of his or her goals. Time management is key to distinguishing the disciplined individual from the undisciplined.

Take for instance an accomplished athlete in any field. What the world sees on the field of play is the result of several weeks, months and even years of disciplined practice on a daily basis. 

The background work that leads to success is what many are unfortunately unwilling to undertake but still expect somehow that magic would work and they would become like the winner someday.

How further could that be from the truth! If you have a goal to attain success or wealth or fame or achievement in any field of endeavour, you must have a detailed written plan of action. 

Putting this action plan in writing is a first sign of accomplishment because it also takes a lot of time and effort to get it done.

Thereafter, the next thing to do is to assign timelines to each action plan and ensure to work within those time lines to reach each milestone of achievement. 

As you do this, you begin to get excited and before long, your achievements are visible for all to see. That is when the world takes notice and commendations come from all angles on your efforts.

Take note that everyone born into this world is given 24 hours everyday for free. How you decide to use those 24 hours is entirely up to you; however, the beauty of life is those who use theirs productively will always have a happy tale to tell at the end while those who use theirs unproductively would also have tales to tell at the end but of a sad type.

As one cannot reverse the hands of time to change already done deeds of the past, one can learn from them and begin to use their daily time productively to achieve desired results. 

At the start of everyday, you can choose what you want to do from your action plan. At the end of that day, you should also commit to accounting for your use of time so you know if you are headed in the right direction.

I end by once again restating an important fact: successful individuals use their time well. There are those who are well engaged even for the rest of this year up till 2012. 

If you ever come in contact with such an individual, you would notice they hardly have time for frivolities because to them every second is important.

Use your time well based on a well defined action plan towards your goal if success, achievement or fame or accomplishment in any field of endeavour is your ultimate goal in life.

The Need for Integrity

The person of integrity is described as forthright, honest, truthful, reliable, upright, trustworthy, etc. These are qualities anyone who seeks success or achievement in any endeavour is expected to possess.

The reason for this is not far-fetched – everyone wants to deal with a person whose character is spotless so they can go to sleep peacefully knowing there won’t be negative issues to handle in their dealing with such person.

Having said this, it is sad to observe so many individuals of doubtful character out there; people who are ready to deny their actions, dupe unsuspecting allies and cause pain to others for their own selfish interest.

It is because of these unfortunate activities that many reliable people are unable to get required help because the potential helper has probably suffered in the hands of a fraudster and is now unwilling to trust anyone.

The reliable person who after a while becomes frustrated from inability to get required help has a threshold of resistance to wrong doing and may soon afterwards begin to engage in dubious acts to earn a living or to achieve his or her heart’s desires.

At the end of a long period of such wrong acts, the individual eventually comes to a period of regret and wishes the hands of the clock could be turned back so he or she never engaged in wrong doing.

I have tried here to describe a cycle of life that has made the world a rather painful place for many to live in. There are millions of people out there who would never have contemplated living a life engaging in insincere acts but as they usually put it, they had no choice at the time because of their circumstances.

Fortunately, even with such group of people who claim they were forced by their circumstances at the time to engage in insincere acts, there are those who would insist that absolute nothing can ever make them follow such path. These set of people are like a little light in a darkened world.

They are taunted for their forthrightness, mocked, insulted and often times they are targets of assassination plots to get them out of this world. Even at that, very many of them are more than determined to continue to be that little light in a darkened world.

Fear of the unknown and ignorance are the driving forces that make people do wrong things. Such people are discouraged by the many frustrations they encounter on a daily basis in trying to eke out a living. After a while, they cannot withstand the pressure to become insincere and soon start the journey to selfishness not caring who is hurt along the way.

On the other hand, faith, courage and determination are the driving forces that keep the person of integrity on the right path. The person of integrity has the fear of God in him or her and is not willing to compromise that for anything. Such individual derives a sense of joy and inner peace from doing what is right as long as it pleases God and is in tune with God’s word.

In the midst of challenges, such individual turns to God for help having realised that only God can do the impossible. The parable of the Sower as my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ told his disciples in Matthew 13:1-9 and further explained in verses 18-23 of the same chapter aptly describes all I have said here.

If you want to achieve in any endeavour of life, you must have integrity, the fear of God and trust in His word as those qualities would open many doors of opportunities for you in the midst of so much negativism in this world. There is really nothing to gain from wrong doing but a lot to gain from being a person of integrity.

I end this article with the words of my Lord and Saviour Jesus in Matthew 6:31-34, “So do not start worrying: ‘Where will my food come from? or my drink? or my clothes? These are things the pagans are always concerned about. Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things. Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things.

So do not worry about tomorrow; it will have enough worries of its own. There is no need to add to the troubles each day brings”.

The Power of Networking

There is a popular saying that “no man is an island”. This statement simply means as humans we are interdependent on each other for so many reasons and so many things. There is indeed a limit to the amount of knowledge one can acquire on his or her own because there is a lot to learn concerning this world.

It is for this reason that most people form groups to share information and learn from one another in a bid to better their lot in life. The same should therefore apply to the individual who seeks success in any field.

This is also part of the reason formal education was started – to impart knowledge on different subjects to the growing child who later in life would take fancy to what he or she is interested in doing.

Networking provides many advantages to people. One advantage is the enormity of resources available to the seeker of information. From constant interaction with members of his or her group, he or she is able to acquire a wealth of knowledge on issues that would have taken months or even years to learn.

A second advantage for such an individual will be to realize that everyone including even the most successful person in the group has stories of difficulties to tell on the road to achievement.

Some people think some are born to achieve and that is why success comes easily to them and is elusive to others. Not at all! Success is a series of planned activities that has resulted in what everyone now observes as an achiever.

As I have come to realize from my experience, there is no shortcut to success. It must be deliberately and constantly sought after by anyone who hopes to find it.

A third benefit for the person who networks with others is to see that different people have diverse opinions on the same issues and you get to appreciate that diversity especially if you hope to start a business to win customers.

People do not think the same way and when you realize that, you are better able to tailor your products and services to suit different customer categories.

It can therefore be seen that networking provides a powerful platform upon which one can build to great achievement. Regardless of what your goal in life is, take time to build networks and relationships that would pay off multiple folds as you progress.

At a time in one’s life also, you would be required to share your experiences to help build other newbies who are in need of valuable information to start their businesses or whatever endeavor.

A former American President Theodore Roosevelt is quoted as saying that “the single most important ingredient for success is knowing how to get along with others”. Ex-President Woodrow Wilson is also quoted as saying, “ I not only use all the brains that I have but all that I can borrow”.

Of course you cannot be friends with everyone just because you are seeking achievement. You can show respect to everyone who comes your way but what you should do deliberately is to seek out those whose interests match yours and that would be a good point from which to start.

A good place to start would be online where you have different forums on different issues where you can gain a wealth of information. All you have to do is go a search engine and type your area of interest in the search box with maybe something like “forum on XXXXXX” where XXXXX is your particular area of interest. A list of websites would open where you can study and choose one, join and then interact with others.

Do you seek achievement in any endeavor? Start now to look for those whose interests match yours, learn from them and climb the ladder of success with less stress.

Make A Habit of Learning New Things

I know a woman who has been in search of a child for 7 years now after marriage and she still has the hope and believe that God will one day answer her prayers. What I admire in this lady is that her search for a child has led her to make several discoveries of the health benefits of natural foods and how they boost progesterone, a hormone that boosts a woman’s ability to conceive a child.

For instance, she has studied the beneficial effects of honey, garlic, garden egg, walnut, ginger, etc. She now applies the knowledge and she enthusiastically shares that knowledge with her friends. In one of my discussions with her, I mentioned to her that she could put to use such knowledge to earn income for herself as a consultant or an author.

One of the discoveries anyone would make if he or she studies wealthy and poor struggling individuals is that the wealthy ones have knowledge of a number of issues while the financially struggling individuals have limited knowledge.

Notice I have used the word wealthy and not rich because there is a difference but that is not the subject of this piece. The basic difference between the wealthy and the financially struggling individual is the information at their disposal.

The man who is wealthy has come into information on what to do and has been able to put it to good use. In fact, I read a book written by Robert G. Allen, “Multiple Streams of Income” where the author wrote about many lucrative business opportunities in the United States of America.

What was very interesting to read was what he said that some of these opportunities he himself was engaged in legally and earning income from them; but whenever he told some people about such opportunities, they would resist and say it was not possible and that it was illegal. And the man continues to make money while the doubters continue to say it is not possible.

The import of my stories above is to encourage the individual who seeks genuine and legitimate wealth to become a student of knowledge acquisition and by this, I mean begin today to study the subject matter in which you are interested in and before long, you would have acquired enough knowledge to make a living out of it.

From experience, I have seen that one does not have to be in a hurry in this life because opportunities abound for the individual who searches for it. There is no short cut to legitimate and genuine wealth. I say it again emphatically that there is no short cut to legitimate and genuine wealth.

But there is unimaginable opportunity for wealth creation if only you can apply yourself to learn new things in the area of your interest. People all over the world are in search of one solution or the other for their many problems. All you have to do is engage in research of such areas that you will be enthusiastic to speak about and use that wealth of information to provide the solution people crave for at a fee.

It is important at this point to state that your learning should be in a subject that you are passionate about. It could be in health, finance, spirituality, internet and online businesses, real estate, arts and entertainment, self improvement, motivation, computers and information technology, insurance, investments, relationships, fishing, gaming, sports, etc. It has to be something you always love to talk about or else you would burn out and lose interest with time.

As you would notice from studying my blog, I am a person who loves to help people by giving useful information and I am never tired of doing it. I love giving advice on important subjects that can positively transform a person’s spiritual and financial wellbeing. Too many people are suffering especially in my part of the world in Africa and this is basically attributable to ignorance.

Those who are able to break away from financial challenges are those who have found useful information at their finger tips and apply the knowledge to earn income. Unfortunately, majority are engaged in a pity party blaming everyone but themselves. If only they understood that the solution lies with them, if only they knew.

I urge you as you read this piece to begin today to study new things in areas you have passion and within a few short years, usually about 5 years, you would have become a subject matter expert in that area and you can build a profitable business from it.

Earning Income from the Internet

I had intended writing about something else; but then I felt a strong urge to give more information on earning income online as a way of encouraging more people to look in this direction as a way of getting out of financial challenges.

The income earning potential on the internet is enormous – the market is huge as there is no one place on this earth where the whole world can gather to do business. This can only happen on the internet and so it gives even the beginner the opportunity to tap into this gigantic market place.

There are ways you can earn money on the internet. You can have your own personal website having information on your products where clients can click to make a purchase and get the product delivered to them at an address they have filled on a form if it is a physical product; or get the product delivered instantly if it is a digital product.

A second way of earning income online involves marketing products for other companies using advertorial materials (sales pages, banner ads, text links, etc) these companies have provided for your use. These are called affiliate programs where the companies pay you an agreed sale percentage or fixed amount for your efforts in getting clients to buy their products.

There are also instances where the companies pay for your efforts in getting leads and by this I mean getting potential clients to take a specific action that would most likely end in a sale or not. Such are called Cost Per Action or CPA programs and the potential clients usually fill a form or click a link or take some other action as agreed that qualifies for payment.

However, from my experience online, I have come to realise that the challenge for most people whether you have your personal website or work as an affiliate is getting clients to see your adverts and even when they see it, getting them to take action or what is called conversion to end in a sale.

This twin challenge has left many online business upstarts frustrated and confused. Another major challenge they also face is the high cost of advertising that the big companies are able to use to get clients to make purchases. Not everyone has this financial muscle and so the big companies enjoy much of it.

Another major challenge online upstarts face is knowing how to build websites or which affiliate programs to join. To have a website, you need to register a domain name and get a company to host your page on the internet. 

A domain name is something like www.google.com or www.yahoo.com where the name between www and .com is the domain you have chosen and can be anything you choose if it still available for you to use, meaning no one else has used it. Domain names are usually paid for once a year.

You then need to pay for hosting your web page on the internet and this is usually a monthly or annual fee you pay to a web hosting company to get this service or else there will be no space to host on the internet for clients to see even when you have a domain.

Then you would have to pay someone to build the site to suit your purpose for it. This will cost money and the rate charged would depend on what and what you want placed on the website from text to graphics, tables, etc. Once you have all these in place, you would as I mentioned earlier need to look for ways to get people to visit your web page and do business with you.

Affiliate programs on the other hand already have the web page or sales pages already designed for you with your affiliate information tied to your particular sales page and your concern is in getting people to see those pages with the hope that it would result in a sale.

Unfortunately, most affiliate programs makes promises they are unable to deliver on because of the enormous amount of money one has to spend in promoting them. Even where one lacks the income, there are programs that you can use FREE of charge to also promote the affiliate programs but it requires a lot of time and effort on one’s part to do this.

Unfortunately again, some affiliate programs require you to pay money to join and even when you spend money promoting them, you never get any payments because they are SCAMS set up to take your money. So there is also the problem of finding legitimate affiliate programs to join and promote for one to earn a living online.

It is important to note at this point that if one is able get steady traffic of visitors to see your personal web page or genuine affiliate sales page, the chances of making steady sale is guaranteed. Fortunately, I have found a program in which the owner has struggled for 3 years online before he was able to crack the code and started making money online.

Develop Multiple Income Streams (2)

Believe me when I tell you that you will find the additional savings if you look critically at your expense lines. I have done it before and so I speak from experience. There are things you don’t need but you engage in those expenses maybe because others are doing it or maybe because you believe you will die if you don’t buy that item.

Far from it as there is nothing indispensable as far as expenditure is concerned. If you don’t believe me, then go and ask someone who has not eaten for 2 straight days if he feels like going shopping to buy clothing and then you realise from his response his priority at that moment is to kill the hunger he feels.

Or go ask a homeless individual in the chill of the night if he wants to buy a television and then his response would be that he wants a home and warm bed to lay his head.


People have different expense priorities at different times and so anything additional that is not a priority could be done away with and the extra money saved towards investment in an additional income stream.

It is that additional income stream one could now use to engage in the expenses that are not priorities. But I tell you some other folks would rather look for a 3rd additional income stream. It all has to do with one’s level of discipline and focus in life.


So please do not make excuses anymore about not having enough money whether you are a new business owner or an employee. With time, you would see how much you can save for investment if you follow the advice I have given here.

Now having gotten the additional money for investment, what area could one invest it? One good area to invest additional income is Real Estate since the world’s population is always growing faster than available housing, which means there will always be a need for accommodation for families, business people and even organisers of different sporting and social events.

Another area of investment could be in the money and capital markets. Yes, I know someone else would shout “no way” because people lost money in the recent stock markets crash. Now take note that there is never any such thing as a safe investment.


Someone I would refer to as a sage made a remarkable statement, “The gambling known as business looks with austere disfavour on the business known as gambling”. What this person was saying in essence is that gambling is a business just as business is like gambling.

In business you cannot have it all because you will lose sometimes and gain sometimes just as we were taught about profit and loss in elementary math. So, as you cannot rule out other areas of investments as being risky, so the money and capital markets are equally risky. What one therefore needs to do is to become an informed investor.

This, I can tell you, has been the number one secret American billionaire Warren Buffet has used to help him take financial investment decisions in the stock market. He is always reading companies’ financial reports on a daily basis and so he has a long term perspective of their businesses and is therefore able to make informed business investment decisions regarding them.

Anyone who wants to go into the investment world cannot therefore afford not to do otherwise but that would amount to gambling at the highest level. The forex market is another very risky but extremely profitable area of investment one can put additional income.


Once again, I advise that you take time to get important information about the market before committing any funds there. Develop Multiple Income Streams

It is a fact that most wealthy individuals have been known to grow their wealth from more than one source. No matter what it is you are pursuing in life, at some point or the other, you will have to look at other areas of endeavour to increase your income.

Now this somehow sounds contradictory to last week’s posting, “Be definite, Be purposeful” where I mentioned the need for one to focus on one endeavour and not jump from one activity to the other because it would led to nowhere.

If you look again at the first paragraph of today’s post, you would see I said at some point or the other one would have to look at other areas of endeavour to increase one’s income. 

Simply put, what this means is that there will come a time, having done all I have advised on this blog as true wealth secrets, when the income from that one endeavour would grow more than one’s expenses and there would now be need to invest the additional income into other areas.

A reader here may be tempted to ask, why expand into other investments when the first source is still producing income that has outgrown one’s expenses? 

This is a beautiful question to ask; however, it is important to note here that the beauty of having multiple income streams is that when one source experiences a challenge then depending on the nature of the challenge, the other income streams will continue to take care of the individual’s needs while the person sorts out the challenge.

If on the other hand the challenge is such that no additional income can come from there anymore, then the individual’s other income streams would come in handy. A typical example of this is seen in Sports people. 

Whether they like it or not, a time comes when younger and more sought after individuals would take over the scene and the older ones would have to make way for them to avoid embarrassment and disgrace.

Another group of individuals that fit in here are employees of organisations. Unless you own the organization or it is a family business, there will come a time when the company would release you for varied reasons ranging from looking for more skilled folks, redundancy, economic downturn as is being witnessed globally since last year and so on and so forth.


Anyone who has been affected by a layoff without an additional income source usually has tales of hardship and woe to tell. However, the individual who had created other income streams while in paid employment would not be so affected.

Thus, I believe the point is now clear to see the benefits of having multiple income streams; so the time to start is now, not later. I can almost hear someone scream, “how can I start when I don’t have any money?” Good question again; however, please note that for most people, this is the very reason they give for never starting anything.

You just cannot spend up all your income on expenses because you think it is never enough. What you need to do is look at your expenses critically, get rid of those that are not necessary, and then begin to save the extra money realised until it grows into something substantial for investment.

Be Definite, Be Purposeful

Napoleon Hill stated in his book Think and Grow Rich, “Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe is achievable”. This is a very powerful statement, considering the fact that so many people believe their ability to achieve in life is linked to something external, something extraordinary that must first happen. Now the word “whatever” as used by Napoleon Hill here simply means “anything” without restrictions.

Napoleon Hill says as long as you can conceive whatever idea that comes to your mind and simply believe it, then you can achieve it. This statement is indeed also a pointer to the barrage of inventions that man has been able to churn out repeatedly time and again. Just when you think nothing else could be done, we hear of a new invention. The human mind as given to us by God is indeed a wonder!

If one understands the preceding paragraphs, then one would see that you don’t have to jump from one activity to another all in a bid to make it in life. You have to first conceive the idea in your mind, believe it and then work at achieving because you will achieve it no matter how long it takes and as long as you don’t give up.

Sacred Scripture states in James 1: 5-8, “but if any of you lacks wisdom, he should pray to God, who will give it to him; because God gives generously and graciously to all. But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea driven and blown about by the wind. A person like that, unable to make up his mind and undecided in all he does, must not think that he will receive anything from the Lord”.

This passage of scripture reminds me of someone I know who will talk with so much enthusiasm about a new business, start it and a few weeks down the line begin talking about some other project when the present one isn’t bringing out the millions he is expecting.

This person has moved from one idea to the next, to the next, to the next and so on and so forth without really achieving anything. That is the very essence of this write up: you have got to be definite in your objective. You cannot afford to move from one idea to another just because the first isn’t going the way you expected.

If this is your current habit, then I urge you going forward to desist from this because you just may never achieve anything with this style. Being definite means you’ve understood that nothing good comes easy. You must be willing to keep moving until you begin to see results.

If you give up and move from one idea to the next, what real lessons would you learn? All you would be doing will be like trying to win a jackpot without learning how to run a business or have the endurance to achieve a purpose in life.

As Napoleon Hill also said, you must have a definiteness of purpose and as Sacred Scripture has said, you have to be decided in what you want out of life. That is the hallmark of achievement. Anything short of this will be a recipe for disaster.
